Air pollution damage to chrysanthemum foliage

Journal Article · · Plant Dis.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6129627
Chrysanthemum, one of the most popular florist crops in the United States, has shown symptoms of air pollution injury a number of times in the past few years in New Jersey greenhouses. Surveys made of chrysanthemum in several greenhouses indicated that there were varietal differences in susceptibility and that cultural conditions resulting in rapid vegetative growth were conducive to plant injury. The nature of the symptoms and the spectrum of plants injured suggested peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN) as the responsible pollutant in these cases.
