Single-particle spectra of the nuclei in the region /sup 146/Gd

A good description of the single-particle spectra (in particular, of the magnitudes of the gaps in them) of the nuclei in the vicinity of the proton-rich nucleus /sup 146/Gd is presented. The magicity of the /sup 146/Gd nucleus is confirmed on the basis of an analysis of all the presently available experimental data. The parametrization obtained for the nuclear potential turns out to be important for study of the effect whereby the pair energy in a nucleus increases with distance from the stability valley.
