Investigation and industrial adoption of new reagents for coal flotation. [Magnitogorsk Integrated Iron and Steel Works-USSR]

Investigations on the floatability of coal were conducted using reagents of various classes of organic compounds. The flotation efficiency was determined at equal extraction of the fuel matter. The results were analyzed on a computer by a staged multiple regression program. The most significant effect on the reagent efficiency seems to be exerted by the total interaction of the dipole moment and the length of the hydrocarbon radical. Examples of compounds include nitrobenzene, benzaldehyde, 1,3-dioxane, alcohols and esters. 3 tables.
