Tax assessors and counselors and a representative of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission testified at a hearing on S.2932, a bill which amends the Natural Gas Pipelines Safety Act of 1968 and the Hazardous Liquid Pipeline Safety Act of 1979 to strike discriminatory taxes. Citing earlier legislation to relieve other modes of transportation from similar discrimination, Senator Ford urged its passage. At issue was the passing through of these taxes to consumers and the equalization of state taxes on all businesses. Additional articles, letters, and statements submitted for the record follow the text of S.2932 and the testimony of the five principal witnesses.
