Includes information on the distribution (shipments in tons) of U.S. coal by coal-producing district of origin, consumer end-use category state of destination and method of transportation. Destinations are domestic (by State) or foreign (the total amount of coal shipped for export). Data are reported quarterly. Data are collected from U.S. companies that owned or purchased and distributed in excess of 50,000 tons of coal during a year. These companies include coal-mining companies, wholesale coal dealers, and retail coal dealers.
