Laser optogalvanic spectroscopy for hyperfine structure studies of La i

High-resolution Doppler-limited laser optogalvanic spectroscopic experiments were conducted in a La/Ne hollow-cathode discharge to study the hyperfine structure of some of the allowed transitions of neutral /sup 139/La. The magnetic-dipole coupling constants (/ital A/) for 21 levels were calculated. The /ital A/ constants for the levels /ital x//sup 4//ital D//sup /circ///sub 3/2/, /ital z//sup 4//ital S//sup /circ///sub 3/2/, /ital x//sup 4//ital D//sup /circ///sub 7/2/, /ital u//sup 2//ital F//sup /circ///sub 5/2/ are being reported, we believe, for the first time.
