Hyperfine structures in /sup 91/Zr by saturation optogalvanic spectroscopy

We report high-resolution Doppler-free hyperfine-structure determinations of eight excited levels in the first spectrum of zirconium. These structures have been obtained with optogalvanic intermodulated saturation and Polinex spectroscopic techniques on a zirconium vapor formed in a hollow-cathode-type generator. Quantitative values for the hyperfine splittings and for the A and B constants are given for the levels at 16 297 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 3/F/sup circle-open//sub 2/), 16 787 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 5/F/sup circle-open//sub 1/), 16 844 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 3/F/sup circle-open//sub 3/), 17 430 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 3/D/sup circle-open//sub 1/), 17 556 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 3/F/sup circle-open//sub 4/), 17 814 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 3/D/sup circle-open//sub 2/), and 18 244 cm/sup -1/ (/sup 3/D/sup circle-open//sub 3/) of the configuration 4d/sup 2/5s5pz and of the level at 15 120 cm/sup -1/ of the configuration 4d/sup 3/5sa/sup 3/H/sub 6/.
