An optogalvanic spectrum of scandium, recorded in the range 575--625 nm by using a cw dye laser and a scandiumneon hollow cathode discharge lamp, is reported. High-resolution spectra of seven transitions of Sc {ital i} are recorded and analyzed in order to obtain hyperfine coupling constants. We report A and B constants for four metastable levels of the configuration 3{ital d}{sup 24}{ital s} and five high-lying levels in the odd configuration 3{ital d}{sup 24}{ital p}.
