Magnetic field penetration depth of polycrystalline (Y,Gd)Ba/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/, grain-aligned YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/O/sub 7/, and single-crystal Bi/sub 2/Sr/sub 2/CaCu/sub 2/O/sub 8/

The magnetic field penetration depths /lambda/(/ital T/) of the title compounds are determined from high-field (/ital H/=2.5 to 5 T) magnetization /ital M/ versus applied magnetic field /ital H/ isotherms, by use of a new method of data analysis in the region /ital H//sub /ital c/1//much lt/H/much lt/H/sub c2/ where /ital M/ is reversible and linear in the logarithm of /ital H/. All of the /lambda/(/ital T/) results are consistent with behavior expected from BCS theory, indicating a nodeless superconducting order parameter. The magnitudes of /lambda/(0) are similar to reported values obtained using independent methods.
