Angular distributions of ..cap alpha.. particles elastically scattered by /sup 3/He nuclei have been measured at laboratory energies 56.3, 59.1, 65.4, 66.9, 72.0, and 95.5 MeV in the range of c.m.s. angles 20--160/sup 0/. Calculations of the angular and energy dependence of the differential cross sections have been made with use of theoretical phase shifts obtained as the result of analysis of a system of seven equations in the framework of the resonating group method. The theoretical angular distributions reproduce the main characteristic tendencies of the energy dependence observed experimentally. The results confirm the conclusion of the resonating group method that it is possible to have broad ..cap alpha..-particle states of /sup 7/Be with orbital angular momenta L = 4 and 5 at excitation energies 25--35 MeV.
