Texas cogeneration bills become law

Texas law now includes SB-141, which establishes the sanctity of electricity sales contracts between cogenerators and Texas utilities, and SB-142, which requires the state commission to treat requests to construct electricity transmission lines expeditiously. The first bill recognizes the importance of cogeneration, while the second will benefit both utilities and ratepayers by making cogenerated power more accessible.
