Electrical properties of the solid solutions Pb/sub 1-x/Sn/sub x/Se

Journal Article · · Inorg. Mater. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5926699
The authors followed the change in the electrical properties in the quaternary system Pb-Sn-Te-Se in the section Pb/sub 1-x/Sn/sub x/Se and analyzed the position of the Fermi level as In was introduced into the cubic phase of this solution, bounded by the region x less than or equal to 0.4. Indium was introduced as a cation substitutional impurity in an amount equal to 1 at. %. The Hall coefficient R, the electrical conductivity sigma, and the coefficient of thermo-emf ..cap alpha.. in the interval 77-800/degree/K were measured. An empirical relation describing the behavior of the Fermi level in Pb/sub 1-x/Sn/sub x/Te/sub 1-y/Se/sub y/ samples doped with In was obtained.
