We have analyzed the angular distributions of secondary charged particles in interactions of protons and carbon nuclei with the nuclei of nuclear emulsion at p/sub 0/ = 4.5 GeV/c per nucleon. In the case of p-nucleus interactions we have examined the dependence of the angular distributions on the type of target nucleus and on the primary energy. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the angular characteristics of highly ionizing particles in p-nucleus and /sup 12/C-nucleus collisions we have determined that with increase of the degree of disintegration of Br and Ag nuclei by primary carbon nuclei the yield of g particles in the region of emission angles theta/sub g/approx. =(50--80)/sup 0/ increases noticeably in comparison with nonperipheral p(Br,Ag) interactions. A quantitative comparison with a calculation according to the cascade-evaporative model is made.
