Air pollution from motor vehicles

A brief history of the use of fossil fuels in the US is presented along with a survey of the methods useable for determining the contribution to overall air pollution from a specific source. The effects of pollutants emitted from motor vehicles are discussed, as well as some air quality standards. Among the pollutants discussed are: carbon monoxide; nitrogen oxides, ozone, peroxyacetyl nitrate, sulfur dioxide, lead and particulates. 58 references, 5 figures, 5 tables.
