Photon energy spectra from the reactions /sup 9/Be(..gamma..,..gamma..'), /sup 11/B(..gamma..,..gamma..'), and /sup 11/B(..gamma..,X..gamma..') have been measured in a bremsstrahlung beam. The cross section for quasielastic scattering of photons by the /sup 9/Be nucleus has been obtained, and also the cross sections for elastic scattering and for the nuclear Raman effect in /sup 11/B. For the reaction /sup 11/B(..gamma..,X..gamma..') excitation functions have been found for the 3.37-MeV level of the /sup 10/Be nucleus and for the 1.74- and 3.49-MeV levels of /sup 10/B. The ratio of the cross sections for total photoabsorption and elastic scattering of photons has been analyzed in the framework of dispersion theory. Conclusions are drawn regarding the spins and parities of a number of levels of the giant resonance. For the /sup 11/B nucleus we have estimated the contribution of 1p-1h configurations to the wave function of the giant resonance.
