Changes in enthalpy and entropy during the melting of vanadium oxide bronzes of the type of. beta. -M/sub x/V/sub 2/O/sub 5/

Changes in enthalpy and entropy are determined during the melting of vanadium oxide bronzes of the ..beta..-M/sub x/V/sub 2/O/sub 5/ type. The obtained data are considered in terms of the structural features of the phases. For Ag/sub 0.33/V/sub 2/O/sub 5/ a phase transformation is found at 803/sup 0/K with ..delta..H0/sub p.t/ = (1.2 +/- 0.1) kJ/mole and ..delta..S0/sub p.t/ = (1.5 +/- 0.1) J//sup 0/K mole, and high-temperature x-ray-diffraction investigations are conducted. The measured enthalpies during the oxidation melting of Na/sub 0.33/V/sub 2/O/sub 5/ and Ag/sub 0.33/V/sub 2/O/sub 5/ in air are equal to (61 +/- 5) and (59 +/- 5) kJ/mole respectively.
