Voluntary carriage in the first three quarters of 1984: issue analysis

Book ·
OSTI ID:5881450
Voluntary carriage by a sample of large interstate gas pipelines increased from 34.6 percent of the sales and transportation market in 1983 to 37 percent of the market in the first nine months of 1984. Carriage accounted for only 14.4 percent of volumes moved by these pipelines in 1974. Most significantly, the volume of gas carried for distributors and end users during the first three quarters of 1984, 821 Bcf, is over 17 percent greater than the 700 Bcf carried for these customers in all of 1983. It also more than doubles the 360 Bcf of gas carried for distributors and end users in 1982. Distributors and end users share of voluntary carriage has risen from only 6 percent of total carriage in 1982 to 16 percent in the first nine months of 1984. In addition, distributors have participated in the growing interstate spot market at least as much as end users. 2 references, 2 figures, 2 tables.
