An Exxon Research and Engineering Co. flexicoking unit will be installed at the Lagoven s.a. refinery at Amuay, Venez., as part of a major expansion of that government-owned facility. According to Exxon, Imperial Oil Ltd. will use the process for upgrading the bitumen it proposes to mine in the Cold Lake region of Alberta. Flexicoking's first commercial application was a 21,000 bbl/day unit licensed to Toa Oil Co. Ltd. at Kawasaki, Jap.
