Users weigh nonspecific bids for shared-savings deals

Energy users accustomed to evaluating detailed bid proposals have found that shared-savings firms frequently offer contracts without specifying what equipment will be installed and how much the total project cost will be. While some decide that such details are not necessary, others are not willing to make a commitment without more information. Users who are willing to commit themselves to a particular financing company without this information do so on the basis of the reputation, track record, and financial stability of the company.
