Troubles surface in some shared-savings deals

Journal Article · · Energy User News; (United States)

Shared-savings deals to install energy-management systems have left some users with poor or abandoned installations and some suppliers with attempts to break contracts when users decide they can do better on their own. Of the 75 firms offering alternative financing a year ago, 16 appear to be out of business; companies that focus on tax advantages rather than energy savings appear to prosper. Five case histories illustrate the types of difficulties both parties are experiencing. A directory lists 54 energy-financing service firms. (DCK)
