Sardinia Tuscany 260 mile hvdc link carries 200 MW

The 260 mile long dc transmission link between the 230 kV Sardinian ac grid and the 225 kV Italian ac grid has successfully transmitted 200 MW between the terminal stations and is reported operative. Proving tests on the dc system began in December and will continue until full demand is made on it from the Italian Mainland. The system is designed to ensure a constant power supply for Sardinia and enable 200 MW of electricity to be exported to the Tuscany area of the Italian Mainland.
