Hvdc cable to put 640 MW in London

A brief discussion of CEGB's plans to reinforce London's power supplies with a 640-MW +- 266-kV, 51 mile dc underground cable is presented. The dc cable will tie the 2000-MW Kingsnorth plant with the City's 275- and 132-kV ac outer ring. Details of the route and power station locations are given, and a map illustrating the route accompanies the article. Cost of the project is discussed.
