The Hamilton Standard four-megawatt wind turbine has been in successful operation for over one and one-half years in Medicine Bow, Wyoming. This unit, currently the world's most powerful wind turbine, was installed for the Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation (DOI/BuRec), as the System Verification Unit (SVU) to determine if wind energy systems can operate feasibly in conjunction with BuRec's existing hydroelectric systems.
