Life, engineering, and acceptance/qualification test data on air force design nickel hydrogen batteries

Life testing of nickel hydrogen batteries and cells previously reported on at the 1982 and 1983 IECEC sessions has continued. Synchronous orbit real time tests have now been operating for 6 1/2 years, elliptical tests for almost 3 years; and additional cells have operated for greater than 5000 cycles in low earth orbit. Qualification test/systems test batteries and flight batteries have been built and tested. In addition, tests to determine cell performance after various storage modes are being performed.
