[Ru(NO)[sub 2](PPh[sub 3])[sub 2]] has been synthesized by three convenient methods. Its reactivity has been studied with HX (X = Cl, Br or I) and with neutral mono- and bidentate nitrogen ligands. The products obtained have the compositions [RuX[sub 3](NO)(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2]] (X = Cl, Br, or I) and [Ru(NO)(NO[sub 2])(OH)[sub 2]L] (L = py, bipy, or phen), respectively.
