How to size gas compressors. Part 1. An introduction into data required and its use

Journal Article · · World Oil; (United States)
OSTI ID:5835764

A method for estimating compressor horsepower requirements independently of compressor type or prime mover uses such parameters as the applicable physical and thermodynamic properties of the gas (molecular weight, specific gravity, compressibility factor, density, specific volume, universal gas constant, and ratio of specific heats) and the conditions under which compression will take place (gas temperature and pressure, compression ratio, and compressor capacity and efficiency). The method assumes compression to be adiabatic and isentropic.
