Find condenser leaks faster by using right technique

Journal Article · · Power; (United States)
OSTI ID:5835497
Condenser in-leakage detection techniques are discussed. Load reduction is often necessary for leak detection. The most reliable way to find out which waterbox is feeding an acute leak is to reduce load and isolate and drain each waterbox in turn. Condensate analyzers are monitored for the decrease in cation conductivity level that indicates when the offending waterbox is out of circuit. This technique is highly reliable. Halogen detection may be a suitable alternative to isolating the waterboxes. The author warns of plug problems, and suggests ways of detecting plug problems.
