Condenser leak-detection guidelines using sulfur hexafluoride as a tracer gas: Final report
The procedures and information contained in this report detail the equipment and technique required to perform a main surface condenser leak inspection using SF/sub 6/. They provide generating station leak-test personnel, responsible for conducting the tests, with the fundamentals for condenser air leakage and on-line tube-leaking testing (water box isolation). Specific topics discussed in the report include differentiating between multiple leak paths, integrating the techniques to specific plant configurations, selecting off-gas sampling points, and selecting SF/sub 6/ injection points for on-line tube-leak testing. The information contained in the report results from four years of service experience with the SF/sub 6/ technique and EPRI sponsored generation and ''in-plant'' evaluation of the leak test procedures. 25 figs.
