Importance of the orbital magnetization for isovector M1 transitions of nuclei in the sd shell

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
The spin and orbital-current contributions to isovector M1 transitions in light nuclei are studied using shell model wave functions. An impressive effect of the orbital magnetization is predicted for /sup 20/Ne and demonstrated by comparing the M1-strength distributions for inelastic electron scattering with the distribution for radiative pion capture and (p,n) reactions.
