This paper examines the status of the individual current and projected LNG trades. A table is presented showing current operational base-load LNG import projects. Development of international trade of LNG may be reaching a point where the growth curve becomes nearly flat. In 1983 and 1984, 2 remaining projects under construction will be implemented: Malaysia-Japan and the Indonesia-Japan expansions. According to the International Energy Agencies' forecast of natural gas use through the year 2000, OECD demand for gas in the year 2000 will be between 1012 billion m/sup 3/ and 1235 billion m/sup 3/-an annual growth rate of between 1% and 1 1/2% from the 1980 level of 896 billion m/sup 3/. Phillips Petroleum and Marathon Oil forecast exportation of 50.57 trillion Btu (approximately 135 MMcfd) of Alaskan LNG annually to Japan in the period from 1984 to 1989.
