The random phase approximation has been used to calculate probabilities of E2 and M1 transitions and also electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole moments of states in nuclei with even A near /sup 208/Pb. Using the state amplitudes obtained by this method, with inclusion of configuration mixing and correlations with the ground state, we have carried out calculations of the ..cap alpha.. widths of the levels. Here we used the non-R-matrix theory of ..cap alpha.. decay. Comparison is made with all experimental data existing at the present time on ..cap alpha.. and ..gamma.. transitions involving nuclei of the type /sup 208/Pb+2 quasiparticles. It is found that there is a possibility of occurrence of enhanced ..cap alpha.. transitions with Lnot =0.
