Title: Nonstoichiometry of cadmium dichromium tetraselenide and the photoferromagnetic effect

Journal Article · · Inorg. Mater. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5761886

Chalcogenide spinels form a class of materials with a combination of magnetic and semiconductor properties. The first selenide in crystals of which the effect of light on the magnetic susceptibility (PFE) was observed was CdCr/sub 2/Se/sub 4/. The PFE in cadmium dichromium tetraselenide is studied in a number of reviews but thus fat it has not been possible to reproduce in a regular manner the PFE in crystals obtained not only in different laboratories, but even in the same experiments. In this work an attempt is made to observe the effect of nonstoichiometry and the presence of impurities on the PFE in CdCr/sub 2/Se/sub 4/ single crystals.
