Users said to overlook efficiency of HVAC motors

Users can specify high-efficiency motors for their heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, but they should first calculate the payback period and be prepared for possible delivery delays. Manufacturers often place cheap motors in original equipment that, while good motors, are more expensive to operate. Motor vendors report that users and HVAC manufacturers both overlook the importance of efficient motors, and the industry has yet to establish an efficiency standards. (DCK)
