Thermal operation of 243-m tunnel kilns for firing heavy dinas parts from Ovruch quartzites

Journal Article · · Refractories (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5704007
At the Krasnogorovka Refractory Plant firing of dinas parts of various sizes of Ovruch quartzites including heavy parts with a weight of up to 30 kg for coke ovens and up to 45 kg for glass melting furnaces has been introduced. Investigations were made of the thermal conditions, and measures were taken making it possible to increase the thermal efficiency of the kilns. In comparison with gas batch kilns, tunnel kilns provide a reduction in production scrap and an improvement in part quality and the sanitary and hygienic working conditions of the personnel.
