The necessity of increasing the production of chamotte guniting compounds and increasing the ladle brick life was responsible for conducting work on increasing the effectiveness of tunnel kilns for refractory production at Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine. Temperature distribution over the length and cross section of the kiln was measured with a thermoelectric transducer. The kinetics and products of combustion were examined to assess incompleteness of combustion. To improve the uniformity of heating of the parts and reduce production scrap the system for firing the kiln was improved. Tests of the burner were made on a stand installed in the kiln section of the area for refractory brick production of the combine. Results showed that the burner operates stably in the range of calculated loads and provides complete combustion of the gas in a flame of controllable length.
