R. 2603: Department of Energy authorization legislation (national security programs) for fiscal year 1980 before the Procurement and Military Nuclear Systems Subcommittee of the Committee on Armed Services, House of Representatives, Ninety-Sixth Congress, first session February 14, 15, 16; March 5, 7, 21; and April 9, 1979
The Subcommittee on Procurement and Military Nuclear Systems met on February 14, 1979 to begin hearings on the fiscal year 1980 authorization request for the defense activities of the DOE. The 1980 authorization continued the considerable efforts of the Department to reduce the volume of and immobilize radioactive wastes that have accumulated from defense programs. Other programs included are nuclear materials and nuclear weapons research and development, weapons stockpile maintenance programs, the naval reactor development program, inertial confinement fusion program, nuclear materials security and safeguards program, and the verification and control technology program. Additional dates on which the hearings were conducted were February 15 and 16; March 5, 7, and 21; and April 9, 1979. Many statements are included in the publication and the text of H.R. 2603, to authorize appropriations for the Department of Energy for national security programs for fiscal year 1980, and for other purposes, is presented.
