Composition of crude benzol in relation to carbonization conditions
The chemical product yield and composition of product from coke ovens are determined by the constitution and quality of the charge and conditions of carbonization. Yields of product are calculated from empirical formulas based on the properties of the charge and the partition factors between the coke-oven products for nitrogen, sulfur, and oxygen. The crude benzol and other fractions were analyzed by a chromatographic technique. The yield and composition of the crude benzol were found to be influenced by the degree of charge crushing, the weight charged per oven cycle, the carbonizing period, and the charge constitution. Regression equations are presented that forecast the yield of basic crude benzol constitutents as a function of the technological carbonization parameters. 3 figures, 6 tables.
