Best procedure for preparation of crude benzole for processing
Preliminary rectification of the crude benzole requires a slight rise in steam consumption; however, this should be compensated for by a decrease in consumption during final rectification. Moreover, processing of the crude benzole and use of the BT fraction as the feedstock for purification and rectification has the following advantages: (1) the crude benzole throughput of the rectification shop should be 4 to 5% greater when catalytic hydropurification is employed, since the xylene fraction is removed from the feedstock to be purified. The reduction in the deposits formed on the surfaces of the heating equipment and catalyst prolong the interval between regenerations; (2) when sulfuric-acid purification is employed, the pure-product yield should be increased by 1.5 to 2%, since tar-forming compounds are not present in the reaction zone and there is no copolymerization of these compounds with benzene hydrocarbons; (3) the yield of feedstock for production of styrene and indene-coumarone resins is substantially increased (by about 1500 t when 100,000 t/y of crude benzole is processed); since these resins have a high market value, a substantial savings can be realized.
