A release from a gasoline underground storage tank (UST) at a commercial trucking facility was discovered in 1991 when the UST was removed. Investigation activities revealed that petroleum contamination extended into the soil and groundwater beneath the site. The remedial action plan recommended that a soil vapor extraction (SVE), air sparging, and groundwater extraction, treatment, and discharge system be installed to remediate the site. This paper discusses how operation of the in situ remediation system has led to improvements in soil and groundwater quality conditions at the site.
