A detailed comparison of the available experimental data on the triply differential cross sections d /sup 3/sigma/dT/sub ..pi../L( q/sub ..pi../L)d..cap omega../sub ..pi../L for ..pi../sup +/ mesons produced in the reaction pp..-->..np..pi../sup +/ at initial proton energies approx.660, 730, 800, 991, and 1000 MeV is performed using an improved version of the one-pion exchange model for this reaction. The model rigorously takes into account the contributions of four Feynman pole diagrams and all their interference terms in the approximation of the 3, 3 resonance for the ..pi..N virtual scattering amplitude. The applicability of the model within the approx.10--15% accuracy is demonstrated and a pion-nucleon form factor of the form G(K/sup 2//sub i/) = 9..mu../sup 2//(K/sup 2//sub i/+10..mu../sup 2/) is extracted (here K/sup 2//sub i/ is the squared 4-momentum transferred to the virtual pion in the diagrams with indices i = 1, 2, 3, and 4).
