Analysis of. pi. /sup -/ /sup 12/C and. pi. /sup -/p interactions with emission of hadrons into the backward hemisphere in the lab at p/sub 0/=40 GeV/c

The interactions ..pi../sup -/ /sup 12/C and ..pi../sup -/p at p/sub ..pi../-=40 GeV/c accompanied by emission of charged particles into the backward hemisphere in the lab have been studied in photographs of a two-meter propane chamber. The probability of realization of these events is determined. Average characteristics of the various types of particles in these interactions are obtained, and also the angular and momentum distributions of the ..pi../sup + -/ mesons emitted into the backward hemisphere.
