A relativistic integral representation for the deuteron charge form factor is used to calculate the neutron charge form factor G/sub E/n(Q/sup 2/) at very small Q/sup 2/ and its slope G/sup prime//sub E/n(0) at zero on the basis of experimental data on elastic ed scattering. The calculated form factor is stably positive. For the magnitude of the slope the value G/sup prime//sub E/n(0) = 0.0189 F/sup 2/ is obtained, which coincides with the experimental value within 5% accuracy. The results of calculations to all orders in v/c are compared with the Casper-Gross construction, in which the basic role is played by the relativistic correction of second order in v/c to the nonrelativistic wave function of the deuteron.
