CO/sub 2/ and SACROC, from source to recycle. [Scurry Area Canyon Reef Operating Committee]

Conference · · Proc. Gas Cond. Conf.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5661848
The Scurry Area Canyon Reef Operating Committee (SACROC) unit in Scurry County, Texas, has been using carbon dioxide for incremental recovery of oil since 1972, with over a billion barrels of oil produced. The first CO/sub 2/ breakthrough occurred shortly after injection began. Since then, the CO/sub 2/ cut has been increasing in the hydrocarbon gas to the unit's processing plants. The CO/sub 2/ and H/sub 2/S is removed in SACROC facilities located on the plant sites upstream of the processing area. The acid gas removed is then either incinerated or recompressed and dehydrated for reinjection into the reservoir.
