Methods of assessment of absorbed dose in clinical use of radionuclides
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:5645151
This report is concerned with the methods of evaluating the absorbed dose received by the tissues of persons to whom radiopharmaceuticals are administered. Even though only one site in the body is the primary object of the investigation or treatment with a radiopharmaceutical, generally many tissues in the body are irradiated. In diagnostic work, estimation of the absorbed dose delivered to particular organs and tissues for different possible techniques is needed to determine the presumed risk for each technique, in choosing between techniques, and, so far as practicable, in comparing risks attributable to the radiation with the possible benefits of the investigation. The procedures described in this report are now probably adequate for this purpose.
