The discovery of 2 new fields, and productive extension of the Gilbertown field, makes this Alabama's most successful oil and gas year to date. Alabama's 5 established fields, and the newly discovered Toxey and Choctaw Ridge fields, produced 7,358,701 bbl of crude oil during 1967, down 671,345 bbl from 1966. The Citronelle field in N. Mobile County accounted for 6,371,764 bbl, 86.5% of the total state production. The estimated value of crude produced during 1967 was $20,427,173 on which the State Department of Revenue collected approx. $1,225,630 in taxes. The state's lone gas field, Whitehouse in Marion County, produced 1.6 million cu ft of gas valued at $329. Thirty-three wells were completed during 1967 of which 2 were successful discovery wells, 6 were productive development wells, and 25 were dry holes.
