Evidence for [Lambda][sub b] production at LEP

Evidence is observed for the production of b-flavored baryons at LEP via the study of correlations between the [Lambda] baryons and prompt leptons from b hadron decays. Signals for the [Lambda][sub b] are also seen in its semileptonic decays [Lambda][sub b][r arrow][Lambda][sup +][sub c][ital l][sup [minus]][bar [nu]][sub [ital l]][Chi], where the charmed baryon [Lambda][sup +][sub c] is reconstructed in the p[Kappa][sup [minus]][pi][sup +] mode. Based on these results, the existence of b-flavored baryons is established.
