Using the laws governing the ability of parabolotoroidal focones and parabolocylindrical foclines to concentrate radiation of extended objects, as well as published data on radiation scattered by circum-solar zones of the sky, rough calculation has been made of the illumination set up by such concentrators in the plane of their minor aperture. The method presumes that concentrator axis is aimed at the Sun and that the circumsolar space takes the form of a cloudless sky for the first case, the sky extended by haze and light clouds in the second, and by dense opaque clouds in the third. It is shown that in the latter case the scattered radiation need not be taken into account, while the radiation scattered in the circumsolar zone by the sky and light clouds makes a noticeable contribution to the average density of the flux concentrated by foclines and focones. The difference in the spectral composition of direct and scattered solar radiation causes no noticeable changes in the efficiency of a silicon receiver having selective characteristics.
