Apple Grove 750 kV project: progress report

This is a 5-year test project to obtain data on corona loss, RI, performance of conductors, and to determine the technical and economic feasibility of transmission at 750 kV. The first of the 3 test lines was first energized at 775 kV in June 1961. The plant, test program, and results are described. Experience so far has shown that there are no serious technical problems. Future work will be devoted to achieving further economies.
