Barge able to lay pipe in 600 ft of water

One of the world's largest monohull combination construction barges, the Arran, is described. The barge will be capable of lifting 3000 metric tons and laying pipe up to 60 in. in diameter. The vessel can operate in 600 ft of water. The main crane aboard the $35 million computer-designed vessel will have maximum lift capacity at a 100-ft radius. Its main piling hammers will have a striking capacity of 750,000 ft-lbs and it will be able to accommodate 300 workers.
