Dutch paper maker, Berghuizer Papierfabrik have boosted steam and electricity production at their Waapenveld mill, with the installation of a Centaur H gas turbine, the first to operate in a European CHP installation. The Centaur-H installation at Waapenveld is the first example of Solar's mid-range gas turbine to be installed in an industrial CHP scheme in Europe. In the present -H version it is ISO rated at 3.88 MW, with an exhaust mass flow of 64.7 t/h at 515/sup 0/C for a heat-recovery boiler. At the end of 1984 Berghuizer were looking at ways to increase their steam and electricity production to meet the planned increases in steam demand. At that time they had the capacity to generate up to 8MW in-house on two backpressure turbines -- one of 3MW, the other 5MW at full steam load.
